Teaching English In Paris And Job Search

Teaching English in Paris and Job search Posted 25 March 2010
Hello,

I will be moving to Paris later this year and I was wondering if anyone could give me any feedback on the job front at the moment in Paris. How affected is the market by the recession? Are there any jobs around, my experience is in administration and the publishing industry.

As I have taught English as a foreign language in the past, I was exploring this possibility as well. However, I am Greek, so would that make things really hard? If anyone also knows what the salaries are like in such positions it would be extremely helpful.

Thank you very much in advance!

hey, i've never got a job here before arriving, sorry to say but i think it'll be tough, having said that there are plenty of teaching jobs here, so... so long as you've got the qualifications they ask for you "should" be fine.
Try calling a few of the companies to find out if they are likely to be recruiting when you arrive, and what the candidate requirements are, goodluck

Hey regina! I totally agree with ironfever. It would be best to apply when you get here, this way you can assure that the job is pretty legit. also, it will be quite difficult to find a job especially when you're still not in the vicinity in case they need to interview you in person. and i agree with ironfever again that a teaching job is fine, heck you can probably get a tutorial job if you are really confident with your English. Best of luck to your job hunt!

hope you're not dissapointed, but really you needn't worry,

there is a list of TEFL schools here, which you should investigate and contact, i recommend calling them rather than emailing.
