We are looking for a Contract Administrator to join our team!



SUMMARY

Responsible for administering contracts in a variety of legal and entertainment categories (including publishing, television and home video licensing, television production, and consumer products) for newly launched branch office. Works under supervision of Paris-based Gerant and General Counsel of US based parent company, to build and expand business. Operation is expected to be a 10 person team by end of 2007.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES

1. Assists with contract negotiation, review and drafting needs including negotiating and drafting publishing, TV license, merchandise, distribution, production, talent and other agreements related to companys businesses.

2. Reviews rights, license, agency distribution agreements and provides analysis.

3. Coordinates with US parent company all templates and documents for US parent company and licensor approval.

4. Coordinates with US parent company and administrate and manage all TM application and prosecution and all anti-piracy efforts in Europe.

5. Performs legal research and analysis on copyright, trademark, fair use, anti-piracy and other intellectual property law matters as assigned.

6. Perform other duties as assigned.



In addition to these typical duties, may perform other duties as assigned and required.



MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Ability to read and write proficiently in English a MUST.

French language proficiency preferred.

Knowledge of other languages, anime, manga, and related products/industry a PLUS.

Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Ability to interact with culturally diverse clients and staff.

Ability to utilize Windows and Microsoft Word.

MUST be legally able to work in the EU.

MUST be able to commute to Paris office location.

Must be available for occasional international travel as required.

Entertainment industry experience preferred (especially TV, publishing, home video, consumer products and/or video game sectors).





MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

Minimum of three years of experience negotiating and drafting production, talent and license agreements, preferably in the entertainment industry.

Strong knowledge of program licensing, development, co-production, licensing and distribution deals.

Candidate must be extremely detail oriented, highly organized, able to work under tight timelines, flexible, and able to adapt to new and changing responsibilities.

Must be self-motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, make firm decisions, and offer a high level of customer service.

Candidate must be able to handle a high volume of multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills required and experience with multinational companies preferred.

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Filemaker and other software applications and rights databases desirable.

University level education with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position.

Paralegal training preferred, but not required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Primarily works in an office environment, requiring the following activity: lifting and carrying materials, weighing up to 15 pounds, kneeling, bending. Approximately 75 percent of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal. Must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices. Must be available for work-related travel.



As part of a multi-media entertainment company, employees may be subjected to work-related images including content such as: sexually explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence. Employees should be willing to work with this type of content. VIZ Media Europe does not condone the viewing of this content where not work-related.



OTHER INFORMATION

Employees must adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights and weekends, on an as-needed basis is required. Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands. Note that the EU working time regulations as implemented in France will govern.
