Hi there

I'll be living in paris for half a year and I'm wondering if I should need a rental contract for my appartment? I'm asking since I'we heard that I might not be able to open a bank account or getting a cellphone subscription if I don't have a rental contract.

Indeed, you'll need a "justificatif de domicile" or rent receipt to open a bank account. For your cell phone, you can find prepaid plans everywhere. Pospaidplans usually imply a 12 months contract. Have fun in Paris!

You can actually buy a prepaid straight out of a vending machine at the airport. Prepaids may not be the cheapest option, but they're widely available.
