Population ageing

Postby Maximus » 08 October 2008

What is population aging?
Population ageing is an increase of a country’s population average age. The definition is quite simple, isn’t it? But the consequences left are not that simple and cause irreversible effects.
In order to understand the impact caused by ageing on a society, just take a look outside your window. What do you see? Ordinary people, walking around, doing their jobs, driving cars. Now pay attention how fast they move, how energetic they are and what jobs they are doing. If you only see grown up men/women with their permanently concerned faces, in their black suits, walking along the streets with their cases, speaking over mobile phones etc. this means you live within an aged society. Maybe you didn’t notice this before, simply because it doesn’t take much time to get used to that. You think it’s normal? Try to ask your parents or grandparents what was their society like when they were young. It was totally different. You couldn’t see so many aged people around you. The youth was dominating the society at those times. Nowadays, the youth lives a boring world and become adults (mentally) at a very young age, due to hearing everyday what elder people talk and think about.
The ageing process can’t be stopped, it’s like a time bomb, waiting to crush all the world slowly. It’s not an exaggeration, it really is a fact. After you read this, I would like to hear from you what are the most negative effects induced by ageing in your country.

In order to understand what population ageing means, here is a chart for you.
This chart is very general, as it refers to the entire world population. But, thinking that the average age will be 45, really makes us scary.

It's very important to give births to children only if we are sure we can offer them a respectful life until they grow up, so he could get a further education and assert himself in the life.

If the population gets older, the youth will have to work more for maintaining the old. This is the economic issue of this complex problem.

The problem of population agingis very topical in developed countries. Developed countries offer high life standards which make the life last longer. In turn, there is a very little "turnover", very few children are born, while the old are increasing in number more and more.
