Nano Technology

Postby Planetman » 13 October 2008

There were some discussions about the Nano technology some 5 years ago, but there were no news about it till now. So the latest achievement deserves to be mentioned as a group of scientists managed to develop the first electronic bio-nanotechnology “switch” on the basis of DNA molecules. It is the present break in technology which can form a basis for an establishment of communications between the world of live organisms and the world of computers. The new device has received the name a nano power-car. The device differs in the microscopic sizes — its size is comparable as of being one thousand thicker than the human hair. Prospects of the future application of the new device are rather extensive, including, for example, mechanical nano-utilities for communication with artificial body parts, supervised by the computer. It does look like watching a SF movie, but I’m actually very glad for this scientific achievement.

that really sounds like a sci-fiction movie. There is one problem here: movies show that robots overtook the world power and began fighting against the humanity. That is possible indeed if bio-nanotechnologies keep developing.

to make everybody clear what nano means, I will simply say it's denoting -10 x -10 x -10 x -10 x -10 x -10 x -10 x -10 x -10 x of one milimeter.

nano technology is technology that is on the nano metre scale, which is basically technology built using individual atoms. this could potentially lead to huge advances for example being able to store every word ever spoke in a cube 1cm cubed, or imagin taking a lump of mud and grass and putting it in a microwave like box waiting a few minutes and a steak poppes out.

In the future, nanotechnology will let us take off the boxing gloves. We'll be able to snap together the fundamental building blocks of nature easily, inexpensively and in most of the ways permitted by the laws of physics. This will be essential if we are to continue the revolution in computer hardware beyond about the next decade.

Nano technology is amazing. Now IBM even has created nano technology that can kill cancer cells! I can't wait to see what the future brings.
