Chemical signature for protecting paintings against fakes

Postby tulaka » 11 October 2008

Australian scientists worked out a technology which allows protecting a painting against fakes. Picture linens will have a unique chemical signature which can't be erased.

The project has been carrying on for three years. In order to protect his painting, a painer can add into his paints a bit of this substance. Besides this substance can be laid after the picture is already painted.
This substance was already used by the Australian painter Freddy Timms

The matter of painting genuineness is very topical. Many art lovers are fooled every year. They pay millions for fake pictures, which is intolerable.

I never understood the art and all its particularities. To me, there is no difference between the original and fake picture. So, why should one pay millions for the original one and nothing for fake pictures?
