there used to be a six-month delay in bringing an animal to Ireland but from tomorrow travel with pets will be simpler,
The rules have also been relaxed for countries that are high-risk for rabies. Dogs and cats can now be imported from places such as Africa and India with a much shorter time delay: they need to be microchipped, vaccinated against rabies, then blood tested to confirm that the vaccine has "taken" properly. Just three months after this blood test, the animals can be brought into Ireland.
