Has anyone been to visit Paris recently? Is it really bad that I should cancel going to Paris or is the media blowing the story up? Thanks!

Not worth cancelling. There is some group or another protesting in Paris at any given time, garbage men, pilots, students, nurses, train operators. It's business as usual. Just mind your business and do your thing.

Paris will be empty this time of year, but tourism is still a cornerstone of their economy, and there is no way they will let some students ruin that for them.
