Well, it really is great to gain even a few knowledge about speaking in French so that you could find your way around things with relative ease.
It will be really helpful as the english language is not that much used here and should you not be able to translate things, you will really find it hard to go around.
So learning a few words and phrases will surely work to your advantage.
