My girlfriend and I will be making our first trip Paris and will there for New Years. My question is what is the weather generally like during that time as we are trying not to overpack. We live in New York City so we are sort of used to cold winters. I heard that the weather in Paris could be similar. Any opinions would be appreciated. This is the best site for any traveler. Thank you!

I was in Paris three years ago during New Year's 2002. We visited Versailles and it was cold and rainy. I would suggest a heavy coat and an umbrella.Nevertheless, there were men near the cobblestone walkway selling umbrellas,but I would not rely on this.

Check in Rick Steves guide and for me it was the best one he gave tons of little tricks that I used during my trip.
