CHARLIE CHAPLIN
Charlie Chaplin, known as Charlot to the French, left behind not only great films but also a photographic legacy. Over 250 images taken on Chaplin's film sets or in the studio are on display. Included is the Keystone album, documenting 35 "shorts" that Chaplin made in 1914 for Keystone Studios. Accompanying the still photography are film excerpts projected onto screens throughout the exhibition. The history of Chaplin from clown to film director to his later life of exile in Switzerland unfolds under the camera eye. At the same time, the Jeu de Paume will present works by contemporary artists inspired by slapstick comedy.
Jeu de Paume. Through September 18. Open daily 10am-7pm. Closed Monday. 1 place de la Concorde, 75008. Metro Concorde.
