Dear Friends, I'm a professional dress-maker who lives in the United States and who will be coming to Paris with my husband at the end of this month for a stay of about a week. I am very much interested in knowing of the best places to examine a wide variety of materials/yardage to make a selection to take back to the States. Any suggestions? Regards to all from Conchita Owens

Are you looking for places where they sell fabric in Paris?

Dear Maytas, Thank you for your reply. To answer you, yes, I intend to buy fabrics. If you have the addresses of some good --or best-- places, I would appreciate your posting them for me. Do you sew? Regards, Conchita

You can go to 2 Rue Charles Nodier, 18e arrondissement to the Marche St Pierre ![]() They have a huge diversity of fabrics there: Here is a link: http://marche-saint-pierre.fr/htfr/frameset.htm

Dear Maytas, Thank you for your kind reply. I think I went to that place, but as I remember the materials that they sell there are more for the economy market. What I am looking for is shops where they sell materials directed more to the luxury market, clientele that wants the best. Are there any market of that type that you know of? Regards, Conchita

Can you write some specific names for the fabrics you are looking for? May be some specific brand?

Dear Maytas, Pardon me for the lateness of my reply. I was in Paris earlier this month and haven't gotten back to you till now. In reply to your questions, no, unfortunately, I don't know of any specific names or brands, but talking to some acquaintances in Paris, they told me that the best fabrics are made for the designers. Since the great majority of people don't sew nowadays, luxury fabrics seem not to be commonly available. For that reason I thought that posting to this Forum might elicit some useful suggestions from people knowledgeable in regard to luxury markets. Nevertheless I appreciate your help and any further suggestions you might have --and I again apologize for having failed to answer you more promptly. Regards, Conchita Owens
