I am thinking of investing in a lightweight red trench coat, to the knee in length. Now I'm wondering if it would be worth it: would it last beyond this season or is it better to go for something more classic?

it's a really beautiful coat but i'm just worried i won't get much wear out of it after this season.

I guess it depends on your colouring, and also what sort of fabric the trench is made from. ETA: I think it would look most flattering on a tall, willowly sort of figure. On a petite girl (like me) it would just be too much red. On the other hand, red peacoats are really cute and easier to wear in general. _________________ Everything's better in cashmere. [ This Message was edited by: mriaow on 2004-05-31 21:06 ] |

I saw a girl (maybe a voguette??) wearing a red trench (double breasted or peacoat style) with a pair of jeans on the tram this morning and a pair of pointies...and she looks really stylish and so sophisticated...

it really depends on whether you are a 'red' person. Even b4 the whole 'trench coat' thing, i would see girls wearing knee-length red coats (usually structured and warm ones) over suits, or with jeans etc as a 'statement' piece. If that look suits you, go for it!

I don't think you can go wrong with a beige or black one...they can be both dressed up and down  I worry that you might get sick of red after one season  If you're planning to invest in a trench...go the neutral colour and there will be no regrets.
