On September 8, 2008, the famous CERN project has been launched. The project aims to answer the questions - who are we? where did you come from? what are we made of? Scientists' opinions differ. Some consider this project will help the human being propel the progress, others think it might be dangerous and may even bring the end of the world.[/img]

Oh dear, it is not that dangerous, because it can't even get started. The project is suspended due to technical problems :)

What a shame :o

Experiments like this were held before in USA, on a smaller scale, so there is nothing to panic about
Elis
Yes, but as you mentioned CERN was developed on a larger scale, therefore it has greater risks, involved

why then many scientists consider it so dangerous? I think they understand what they're saying better than we do.
Planetman
I didn't see any one of the scientists talking about dangerous consequences of this experiment

There were some, I know it for sure

The project was stopped now until the Spring of 2009. Some cracks appeared in those pipes which made the experiment impossible to further carry on.

People's protest might not allow it to start at all. There are organizations and groups which don't back the CERN's idea and they aim to stop it by differerent ways. They can simply block the entrance to that building a couple of days before they envisage to launch the device.
