Location : The Montorgueil area is a historically preserved market street located in the center of Paris. Since the 1800's, Rue de Montorgueil has been a Mecca for gourmets. In the 2002 edition of Frommer's, Rue Montorgueil was rated the #1 market street in Paris.
Not very known to the average tourist in the past, the Quartier Montorgueil is a favorite among Parisians for dining and food shopping. Its charming and reserved for pedestrians streets are paved with marble cobblestones and filled with gourmet food stores, fresh fruit and vegetable stands, flower shops, outdoor cafes and restaurants. You will also find several of Paris finest bakeries. The Quartier Montorgueil is only a short walk to Le Marais, Opera and Pompidou Centre and a 15 min. walk to the Louvre, Seine River and the Left Bank.
